Green card to the Czech Republic

If in Ukraine the driver's liability is insured by the MTPL policy, then the Green Card is required when traveling outside the territory of Ukraine. It performs functions similar to Ukrainian civil car insurance. A Green Card for the Czech Republic should be issued to drivers who permanently reside in Ukraine and wish to temporarily travel by personal transport on the territory of the Czech Republic.

A documented fact of a road accident allows the insured - provided that the fact of innocence in the accident is officially established - to count on compensation for damage caused to the life and health of the victims, as well as the vehicle and their property, if it was damaged during a collision of vehicles.

Payments under this insurance are guaranteed by the Motor Transport Insurance Bureau of Ukraine (MTS BO). A green card can be issued by both an individual and a legal entity, provided that the vehicle is legally operated abroad.

The insurance policy can be issued for travel in:

• Azerbaijan, Belarus, Moldova, Russia OR    
• all countries of the European Union.     

This means that insurance issued for travel in Moldova will not be valid in Germany or France.

How much does it cost to issue an insurance policy?

Given that the country of travel is known (Czech Republic), the cost will depend on the following factors:

1. Duration of the foreign trip.
2. Type of vehicle used for travel.

The last point involves measuring dimensions and power of the vehicle. The larger these values, the more expensive the insurance will be.

With an increase in the duration of stay abroad, the probability of an insured event increases. That is why the price of the final product increases. The maximum Green Card can be issued for a year, the minimum - for 15 days.

Rules for issuing insurance

A "Green Card" cannot be issued online by printing out a policy. It must be issued on the appropriate form. You can enter the necessary data online, but the finished form will come to you at the nearest Nova Poshta branch.

This is due to some restrictions imposed on the finished document:

1. Each certificate must be registered with the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Ukraine. A document issued after September 1, 2018 and not registered with the MTIBU is considered invalid.
2. With each purchase, a special control code is generated, which is applied to the lower right part of the form.
3. Filling out insurance by hand is not allowed.

These measures may make it more difficult to purchase a policy, but they guarantee protection against fraudulent actions with the document.
