In Ukraine, insurance via the Internet is developing quite rapidly and is becoming a convenient alternative to paper policies. However, in the case of a green card, there are some peculiarities. Is it possible to apply for and buy a Green Card online? And what are the specifics of this type of insurance?

Car insurance for traveling abroad is mandatory

Traveling in your own car to other countries is associated not only with convenience, but also with road accidents. Property and third-party liability insurance is a mandatory condition for a number of countries. That is why, before leaving the territory of Ukraine, you need to apply for a Green Card, or Green Card. This document is equivalent in functions to a Ukrainian civil motor vehicle, but is an international policy. This means that if you get into an accident (it happened through no fault of yours), you will be able to apply for insurance compensation. The payment will be calculated in accordance with the legislation of the country where the accident occurred.

The Green Card is recognized by 47 countries. At the same time, this policy can only be issued in the country where the vehicle was registered. That is, our citizens need to buy this policy in Ukraine.

How to buy a Green Card online?

If you are going to cross the border of Ukraine in your own car, the Green Card is a mandatory document and it is best to buy it before leaving.

If you need to buy a Green Card while outside the country of registration of the vehicle, you can apply for a policy online on the website Parasol.ua:

• choose an insurer;
• fill out the necessary form to provide information about the vehicle, the country(ies) where you will use it, and the duration of your stay abroad;
• calculate the cost of the policy;
• pay;
• arrange for delivery.

After payment, the insurance company can send the insurance to any point in the world, but the costs for postal services will be borne by insured.

Let's clarify: the lack of valid car insurance threatens with a serious fine. Depending on the country, the amount will vary. For example, in Poland, for such a violation when operating a passenger car, you will have to pay from 1,200 to 6,020 PLN. The amount of the fine will be affected by the period for which the insurance is overdue: three days is the minimum, 14 days or more is the maximum. And after paying it, you will still need to buy a Green Card.

How much does a Green Card cost?

The Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Belarus reports that a single tariff is currently in force for all insurance companies. The cost of the Green Card depends on the type of vehicle and the insurance period (from 15 days to 12 months).

Thus, for a passenger car, the minimum cost is 394 UAH, and the maximum is 6899 UAH.

How is the payment for the Green Card made?

If you have been involved in an accident, be sure to report it to the police of the country where you are. It is important to record the accident and correctly prepare all the documents necessary for calculating insurance compensation.

If you are not at fault in the accident, you can receive the payment (if the decision is positive) at the Green Card Bureau of the country where the accident occurred.

The main thing is for the police to indicate in the documents that you are innocent. If you do not know the language and cannot read what is written in the documents, it is better not to sign them. Try to arrange for the help of a translator. Calmly explain to the police that you want to understand what you are signing, as this will later affect the decision on insurance compensation.

Take photos of evidence of your innocence and the damage caused. Do not move the car and belongings until the police arrive. You can also contact your insurer for advice.
