Green card for a motorcycle

The Green Card and the MTPL are similar documents and both insure the driver's civil liability. The Green Card can be issued for both a motorcycle and any other vehicle.

If the MTPL is required when traveling within Ukraine, then the Green Card insurance policy is required when traveling abroad in one of the following territories:

• any of the countries that are part of the European Union;
• Belarus, Azerbaijan, Russia or Moldova.

This is how the types of insurance policies are divided. A trip from Ukraine to Europe on a motorcycle will be illegal if you have Russian insurance. Such actions will be qualified as a violation.

Rules for issuing a green card for a motorcycle

The law establishes the possibility of entering data and paying via the Internet. The policy is not available in electronic form and will be delivered to the nearest Nova Poshta branch after payment.

The policy must be registered with the Motor Transport Bureau of Ukraine. A document purchased after September 1, 2018 and not registered with the MTIBU in accordance with the procedure established by law is considered invalid. Driving a personal vehicle with such insurance is equivalent to its absence.

A form filled out by hand is also considered invalid with the corresponding legal consequences.

Insurance is issued for the vehicle. For example, it can be issued for a motorcycle, and any driver who legally drives it will be automatically insured.

Although these rules may complicate the purchase process, they protect the Green Card from fraudulent actions.

Policy cost and payment limits

The price of the finished product depends on a number of factors, including:

• country of destination;
• term in which the document is issued;
• engine capacity of the vehicle.

A Green Card for a motorcycle will not cost very much, even if you issue it for a year, since the engine capacity of such a vehicle is quite small.
