Mandatory rules to follow in case of flooding:

  • If a car is in water, it cannot be started. Otherwise, the engine may suffer from water hammer, and such an engine cannot be restored. In addition, the electronics and electrical equipment of the car may fail.
  • It is imperative to contact your insurance company and record the insured event. Contact numbers of the support line SK «AXA Insurance» 272, 0 800 30 272 3.
  • It is necessary to take photos of the damaged car at the scene of the incident. Particular attention should be paid when taking photos if the car was damaged by any objects or trees falling on it.
  • The car must be delivered to the service station indicated to you by the insurance company. The car must be delivered by a tow truck.
  • The first thing to do at the car service is to dry the car. If it is not possible to urgently deliver the car to the service station, you need to dry the car yourself - open the doors for ventilation. It is forbidden to leave the car with the doors closed.

«The CASCO contract covers damage caused by a natural disaster. The floods that occurred in July-August are a natural disaster and such damage will be compensated to the owners of CASCO policies. But it should be remembered that the insurer may refuse to pay compensation for certain reasons. Examples of such a refusal may be: if the car was damaged in the event of water hammer (engine damage as a result of water ingress) or violation of the rules for operating the vehicle. In this case, we are not talking about cars that were damaged in the parking lot, we are talking about car owners who exceeded the limits of reasonableness when driving a car and tried to take a water obstacle.

Car manufacturers always indicate this in the operating instructions, sometimes with an indication of a specific water level, sometimes without. Insurance also does not cover damage that occurred during towing or transporting a car on a tow truck, in connection with which it is recommended to use the services of a tow truck organized by the insurance company. The CASCO contract does not cover damage if the driver did not follow the recommendations of the insurer or the instructions for operating the car − the car should be started only after drying and it is desirable that this be done by a service station employee after diagnosing the car», − commented Ruslan Grabko, Deputy Vice President for Operations of IC «AXA Insurance».
