How and from what OSCPV protects

2132
The OSCPV is popularly called simply "Autocivilka". This is not car insurance, but liability insurance. Every driver is obliged to insure his liability according to the Law of Ukraine. But this insurance does not protect the client's car at all if the accident occurred due to his fault. Also, it is not valid outside the country. To understand the possibilities of OSCPV, we answer the following questions:
- What is OSCPV and how to apply for it?
- How and from what does «Avtocivilka» protect?
- What does OSCPV not protect against?
What is OSCPV and how to apply for it
OSCPV insurance is mandatory insurance for every vehicle owner. It was invented in the United States back in the 1920s, and then began to be used all over the world. The reason was the frequent situations when a person damaged someone else's car, and he cannot compensate for the damage caused by his own fault. How to get money for repairs from someone who simply does not have it at the moment? Waiting until he collects the required amount to finally go to the service station is too long a process. Insurance companies have taken on this responsibility: the client pays a small contribution once a year, and the company covers the damage caused by him if necessary.
Quickly make a «Auto-Civilka» you can do this in the following way:
- Collect documents: passport, identification code, driver's license, vehicle registration certificate.
- Go to the website of the Motor Transport Insurance Bureau of Ukraine and familiarize yourself with the list of companies that have the right to sell OSAGO policies.
- Go to the insurance aggregator, where you can compare prices from many companies at once and choose the one that works with online insurance.
- Then apply for insurance and pay there. The electronic policy will come to your email within 5 minutes.
- That's it. The insurance starts to be valid from the date you specified when applying for the document.
It is not necessary to print the document, it is valid in the form of an electronic file. The main thing is to check its validity on the MTIBU website. To do this, simply enter the vehicle or insurance number in the search box.
How and from what does «Avtotsivilka» protect
The OSCPV works on the following principle: all drivers are required to purchase insurance for a year and pay different premiums, depending on the deductible, type of vehicle and a number of other factors. If an accident occurs due to the fault of the insured client, the company pays the victims for the damage caused instead.
Pays within the insurance limit: 260 thousand hryvnias for compensation for damage to life or health and 130 thousand hryvnias for property damage. If compensation is required in excess of this amount, the client pays the difference.
In order not to have to add your own money to repair a broken car, you can take out additional insurance, then the limit for compensation for property damage increases from 100 to 350 thousand hryvnias and above.
«Autocivilka» will cover the damage caused to participants in an accident in another car: to life and health, to a vehicle. If the client drove into a motorcycle, a store, a fence, not a car, then these costs are also covered by the policy.
How to get protection under the MTPL?
To do this, you need not to get lost during an accident and, as soon as an insured event occurs, follow the exact procedure:
- Call the police and the insurance company, report the accident. If someone is injured, call an ambulance immediately.
- Do not move your vehicle or parts on the road, do not change or clean anything. Make sure that the other driver does not touch anything either.
- It is advisable to find witnesses so that they can confirm what happened.
- Inform the other driver of your policy number, make sure that the police officer draws up the report correctly.
- Do not pay anyone anything yourself, especially at the scene of the accident. All payments will be made by the insurance company after their client's fault in what happened is proven.
What does the MTPL not protect against?
- Does not compensate for damages in the event of an accident caused by the client if he was drunk or under the influence of drugs. Driving while intoxicated is illegal and if the client has violated the contract, then he is responsible.
- Does not protect against liability in other countries. MTPL is valid only within Ukraine. When traveling to other countries, you need to apply for a "Green Card".
- It will not protect the client's car from theft, damage caused by third parties, and other unforeseen damage.
- An important nuance to remember: "Autocivilka" does not cover the costs of repairing the client's car.
If the accident occurred due to the fault of another driver, the repair will be covered by his insurance. But what if the accident occurred due to the client's fault, and his car was also damaged? There are two options: the first - to repair the vehicle at your own expense. The second - to apply for a CASCO. This insurance is voluntary, but it is also valid in other countries and covers those risks that are not covered by the OSCPV.
So, to fully insure your vehicle, you need two insurance policies at once: both OSCPV and CASCO
