Medical insurance to Latvia

Latvia is a member of the Schengen Agreement. Therefore, if a resident of Ukraine wants to go there, he needs to apply for a visa, but only if he does not have a new passport. To do this, you should take out travel insurance for Latvia.

Why take out a travel insurance policy?

Submitting documents for a visa is the first case. Please note that two conditions must be met:

1. The amount of insurance coverage must not be less than 30,000 euros.
2. The policy must be valid in all Schengen countries.

Even if you do not need to apply for a visa, taking out travel insurance is still recommended, and here's why. While abroad, a traveler, just like in his native country, may need medical care. If in Ukraine the level of such expenses can be predicted, then in Europe, in particular in Latvia, it increases many times. The insurance company covers part of the costs. This can happen in two ways:

• the clinic issues an invoice to the insurance company, which pays it;
• the traveler pays the invoice himself (in agreement with the insurance company), and after arriving home, provides supporting documents and the company pays him compensation.

In the basic version, the patient's transportation to the clinic and the provision of medical care are compensated. If necessary, the number of events for which the company will reimburse the costs can be expanded by including them in the policy.

The document can be issued online without visiting the company's office.

Procedure for contacting the insurance company

If you feel that you need medical care, contact Assistance - this is a specialist from the insurance company, whom you are obliged to notify immediately as soon as you become aware of the possible occurrence of an insured event. The agent will either suggest a specific clinic to contact, or will independently agree with the medical institution to accept you there on a certain day and time.

You can ignore this rule only in a situation where delay threatens the patient's life. In any other cases, such behavior may be a reason for refusing to pay compensation.

Policy cost

The price of travel insurance for a trip to Latvia is not fixed and is determined by the following factors:

• the number of people to be insured and the age of each of them;
• the duration of stay abroad;
• the number of events included in the policy.
