Green card to Lithuania

Entering a car into the territory of one of the countries participating in the international Green Card insurance system implies that the driver has an appropriate policy. Therefore, a Green Card for a trip to Lithuania is mandatory. The absence of a document means entry without insurance with all possible ones. If a violation is detected when registering a traffic accident, the driver, in addition to an administrative fine, will have to compensate the injured party for damages (if the driver is found guilty of the accident). 

The meaning and purpose of the Green Card

Insurance is similar to third party liability insurance. If the latter is valid exclusively within Ukraine, then the Green Card is valid in the territory of the participating countries that are part of the international insurance system of the same name. The driver's civil liability is insured. In the event of a documented accident, the injured driver can expect compensation for the following damages:

• related to damage to the vehicle involved in the accident;
• property of third parties, if this was damaged by the event;
• related to the need for treatment of passengers injured in the accident.

Compensation is paid only if all rules and deadlines for applying are met.

Cost of the Green Card

It is impossible to determine the exact price of the final product in advance. It depends on three factors:

1. Term of application. It varies from 15 days to 1 year. The longer the insurance is issued for, the more expensive it will be.
2. Vehicle. The larger its dimensions, the larger the engine capacity. The cost of the policy directly depends on this.
3. Country of destination.

Please note that the document can be intended:

• for travel in all countries of the European Union OR
• for travel in Russia, Moldova, Belarus and Azerbaijan.

Issuing a Green Card in Lithuania implies purchasing a policy of the first type. If an incorrect document is found when the car is stopped on the road, this may be qualified as travel without insurance with all the legal consequences that arise from this.
