Health insurance in Ukraine is not mandatory, but nevertheless many Ukrainians want to take out a health policy. Many insurers warn customers before taking out a policy that the insurance does not cover the costs associated with cancer treatment.

Every year, 160,000 Ukrainians are diagnosed with cancer. Today, it is quite possible to cure cancer, but this will require a lot of time, effort and, of course, money. Cancer treatment is so expensive that even wealthy people cannot find enough money. Recently, programs that insure against cancer have begun to appear in Ukraine.

Features of insurance

An important condition for insurance is the absence of cancer at the time of taking out the insurance contract. The insurance also has an age limit - the maximum age of the insured is 65 years.

When taking out voluntary health insurance, many insurance companies provide an additional option - insurance against excluded diseases. These diseases include:

• Oncological diseases (benign and malignant tumors);
• Tuberculosis;
• Diabetes;
• Cirrhosis of the liver;
• Chronic renal failure.

If the insured receives one of these diagnoses, the insurer will cover the costs of diagnosis and treatment within the insurance amount. The insurance covers the costs associated with urgent and emergency, inpatient, outpatient and polyclinic care, and the insurance provides the insured with medications.

There is a program under which treatment is provided by the LISOD oncology clinic. There is no deductible under this program, but payment is made within the insured amount. You can conclude a contract for a period of one year with the possibility of extending the policy.

The price of the policy depends on the state of health of the insured, as well as the assessment of the risks of getting cancer. Thus, the insurer can clarify information about whether relatives have had cancer, whether you smoke, or whether you work with harmful and toxic substances.
