Since June 11, 2017, Ukrainians have been granted the right to visa-free entry to the territory of the European Union for tourist purposes. This event caused great joy among the population, but at the same time many have encountered problems with document processing. To enter the territory of the EU, you must provide a list of documents, including insurance.

A travel policy is mandatory for crossing the border and entering the European Union. Without travel insurance, border guards will not allow you to cross the border. The visa-free regime and insurance have their own characteristics, which you must be familiar with if you plan to travel to Europe.

Visa-free: insurance features

Travel insurance for visa-free travel must be issued for at least 30 thousand euros. This means that the amount of the insurance sum should not be less. The insured amount is the amount within which compensation will be paid.

When taking out travel insurance, it is important to clearly state the purpose of the trip, since a different type of insurance is provided for active recreation. This is important, because if an insured event occurs as a result of extreme activities, the insurance company will not pay compensation under a regular policy.

When taking out travel insurance for children, only an adult, i.e. a parent or guardian, can be the insured. The information in the insurance policy and in the passport must be identical. If at least one symbol does not match, the insurance will be invalid.

Travel insurance must be valid for the period of your stay abroad. If your trip will last 10 days, the insurance period should not be less than this period. It is also possible to purchase a policy valid for 30 days during the year. In this case, the days you were abroad are summed up.

A travel policy must cover the costs associated with repatriation and the death of the insured. Policies drawn up by hand are considered invalid upon departure.

Cost of a visa-free travel policy

Insurance prices depend on three factors - the duration and purpose of the trip, as well as the availability and size of the deductible. For visa-free travel abroad, only a tourist purpose is provided, but the vacation may be different.

It is worth understanding that when going to a ski resort, you will pay more for insurance, since skiing is an extreme sport. An important nuance is that you should not hide from the insurer that you are going on an active vacation. If you break your leg while skiing, and you have a regular travel insurance policy, the payment will not be made.
